“How do we ensure that our village's character remains intact for future generations?”

In 2014, czb was selected to work with the Village of Perry on its Village Comprehensive Plan. Perry, a small village in central New York State, had not gone through a comprehensive planning process since 1967 and needed to revisit many of its land use, zoning, economic development, and growth priorities. With a population of 3,600, Perry had long prided itself on being “a village that is still a village” – a place of caring neighbors and business owners with a walkable downtown, its own independent school district, and great recreational facilities.

Over the course of several months, czb worked with an 11-member steering committee to create a plan that established the Village’s goals for the future, including the use and development of land, conservation of open space, partnerships with agencies and organizations, economic growth, and the relationship between land use patterns and fiscal policies.

Project Outcomes

Perry's Comprehensive Plan was adopted by Town Council in 2015.

Perry's Mayor and Town Council continue to make decisions in line with the comprehensive plan, including the consideration of new housing options for senior residents.

Perry's Comprehensive Plan, delivered in Spring 2015, outlined a series of real-world action steps for the community to take over the next 10 to 15 years.  It outlined steps that the village should and should not take as it considers future decisions.
